Next week students will participate in an activity to conclude our study of the story When I Went to the Library. Students have noticed that the girl in the story seems to be trying to pass the blame onto others, so we are going to have a mock trial and a let a jury decide if what the protagonist did was wrong.
Students will make inferences about the minor characters in the story and offer testimony about the sequence of events. The book character will be represented by a defense team and prosecutors will try to prove her guilt.
Some students have some research to complete. Some students may be bringing their work home this weekend to prepare. The mock trial will occur on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how long it takes the class to prepare.
Several students asked if they could wear costumes. This is not required, but it’s ok if they want to dress up.
