January 7-11

This week students are reading Dear Mrs. LaRue in class.  They will practice writing letters, both friendly letters and more formal letters.

Students will also be completing spelling activities this week.  Skills practiced include:

/s/ sounds

r controlled vowels

prefixes and suffixes

Words tested:  there, their, then, than, words, most, worked, enough, country, true, United States, cold, American, though, behind, rest, perhaps, certain, six, feel


In math students will take the chapter 4 exam on graphing and data.  

After we’ve concluded our study of graphing and data, students will begin to study fractions and mixed numbers.


Family Dinner and Math Night is coming soon.  

On Thursday January 15th we will have a presentation by Mary Dank, a classroom teacher and math instructor.  She will be teaching several card games that teach math skills.

Dinner (hot dog, chips, dessert, drink) will be served.  If you RSVP by Friday, January 11 the meal is free.  If you do not RSVP by Friday, the cost is $2.
